We were delighted to have been crowned Arable Farmer of the Year at the inaugural Scottish Agriculture Awards. The competition was run in partnership between The Royal Highland Show, Agriscot and the Scottish Farmer magazine and was judged by industry experts.
The judges said "Savock Farms have reduced risk to the business by creating a market for the farms produce through the AD plant and Gluten free oats business. Andrew has used the addition of grass as feed for the AD plant to aid the crop rotation, improving soils and boosting fertility. His use of technology has reduced environmental impacts, increased yields and improved margins. Andrew also has introduced an excellent management structure which delegates to and gives staff responsibility. The Judges were impressed with the overall farming business in what can be a very challenging area of Scotland."
It is testament to the dedication and hard work from the whole team, both on the farm and behind the scenes. The matched vision of continuing to improve soil health and increasing yield while continuing to farm in a regenerative manner underscores the ethos that drives Savock Farms.
